This is through an innovative experimental partnership between Marshall Space Flight Center and the Ames Research Center, NASA will propel a satellite the size of a sliced loaf of bread through space with an ultra-thin, 100-square-foot solar sail. Developed and constructed in only six months, the joint engineering partnership built on Ames experience with small satellite development and Marshall’s expertise in solar sails and a very advanced propulsion systems.
